Connecting the far ends of Science and Spirituality

It's interesting how society keeps turning us against each other. I've noticed a void between those who have connected with the lovely experience of Mother Earth, and those on the far other side, sitting behind a desk, staying with their logical thoughts.

When I started my spiritual and yogi teacher journey, I could have perfectly stayed in nature, apart from all the wrong doings we're unconsciously being part of by destroying our planet. Coming to London wasn't an easy decision, but I believe my mission is to bring those practices to those people who are disconnected from their nervous system and are making the decisions for tomorrow.

We can separate ourselves until we realize that we're all on the same spectrum and we need each other's perspectives, ideas, and values to evolve and save our planet. What's the use of the enlightenment you learn from meditating if you don't share it with the world, and instead decide to retreat, hoping for problems to disappear? What's the use of being a logical thinker if you're not capable of filling a gap with conscious actions?

We're victims again of the negativity in these mindsets that divide us, when actually science and spirituality should be going together. We need these energies to synchronize each other, dance, and find balance.

If you've already connected with the wonders of Earth, I invite you to help us reach and expand people's hearts, instead of isolating yourself emotionally deep in the forest or on a mountain.

If you're in a city, I invite you to come close to understanding the beauty of connecting the mind, body, and soul. This WON'T turn you into a hippie.

Here are some basic techniques for you to start changing your life:

  • Be conscious of your breath. Sit with it and observe it. Being aware of the pace of your breathing will help your ability to respond rather than reacting to situations... and releasing stress. We interact in this world, we can't extract ourselves! Naturally, you'll feel triggered, but conscious breathing teaches the nervous system to relax. Did your parents tell you when you were young to count back from 10 when you felt upset? Start by doing exactly that.

  • Meditate. My first experience meditating, I couldn't close my eyes for much time. I didn't like the feeling, it triggered me. People think meditation is silencing your thoughts, when it's a practice to focus, build awareness, and concentration. If closing your eyes is too much, stare at a candle. Set a timer, breathe, and just do that. If it doesn't work, pick a word and hypnotize yourself saying it multiple times, like "calm", "calm", "calm".

  • Be a happy beginner! Did you know that you speak harder to yourself than you'd speak to anyone else? Be kind with your process and sit with it as long as you can. You don't have to meditate for 3 hours a day. Try 3 minutes, or 1 minute 3 times a day. When you notice the benefits, you'll know when it's time to start doing longer meditations and closing your eyes, but first create a new habit and way of thinking.

  • Practice yoga. It combines the wonders of conscious breathing with an active movement of the body. The shapes help us reconnect, calm the nervous system, and find self-love, self-acceptance, and forgiveness. We're mostly made out of water, and we need to learn to let the currents inside us flow, instead of resisting them.

A final note: By making your mind a more enjoyable loving place, you'll create a more harmonious world. Yes, "harmonious". Don't block yourself when reading the word, it doesn't make you a hippie either, but it is true however, that it will create more regulating self-systems to help us be aware on a bigger scale on how to stop poisoning and destroying ourselves and the planet we live in.
